Our groundbreaking aluminum manufacturing technology has the potential to save 3% of the world's total electricity consumption annually.
This incredible 3% savings is equivalent to powering more than 50 million homes with electricity every year!
ALUNOM will futher refine its development of its energy-efficient process for production of primary aluminum (99,7% purity) from coal fly-ash, making an important environmentally friendly impact for the future.
The only industrial method for aluminum production today is
the electrolysis process, based on the Hall-Héroult process first developed in 1886.
In this process the electrolyte reacts with large blocks of carbon, forming 11 tons average of CO2 emissions per ton
of primary aluminum produced. The energy requirements in this process is 15,000+/- kWh/ton of primary aluminum produced.
ALUNOM will use appr. 2.500kWh/ton of primary aluminum produced and lowering the CO2 emissions with up to 90%.
ALUNOM's technology has the potential to lower CO2 emmisions with up to 90% and save up to 80% of the electricity used in production of primary aluminum.
Primary aluminum CO2 emissions:
11 tons average CO2/ton produced.
66+ million tons primary aluminum produced 2024.
The sector was directly responsible for 275Mt of CO2 emissions in 2024, 3% of the world’s 9.4Gt of direct industrial CO2emissions and if indirect emissions from electricity consumption are included, that number jumps to around 1.1Gt of CO2. More info.
Primary aluminum electricity consumption:
Global Aluminum Market was Valued at US$ 249,83 Bn in 2024 and is Projected to Reach US$ 498.5 Bn by 2030, at a Healthy CAGR of 5.8%.
"As aluminum continues to gain ground as a viable substitute for a variety of metals, and other materials widely used across industries, global aluminum demand is expected
to see an uptrend."

Aluminum is a metal with highly desirable properties, such as high strength in combination with light weight. Moreover, aluminum can be re-melted over and over again, without losing its properties.
Using the Alunom technology, ALUNOM will be able to produce aluminum of consistently high quality, and with consistently high purity.
ALUNOM will produce aluminum in the form of billets, ingots and liquid aluminum. All aluminum will be produced with an energy saving of up to 80% in comparison with the traditional technology for production of primary aluminum (production of aluminum from Bauxite ore with Hall-Héroult process.)
Today Primary aluminum is produced from Bauxite ore,
and Secondary aluminum is produced from aluminum scrap.
Comparison with Primary smelters
- Energy consumption 15,000 +/- kWh/ton
- ALUNOM's energy consumption appr. 2,500kWh/ton
Due to the low energy consumption ALUNOM will be very competitive, and less sensitive to increases in energy costs.
Comparison with Secondary smelters
Secondary smelters are in constant need of more aluminum.
ALUNOM will be able to provide these companies with a very competitive product of consistently high quality and high purity.
